Description

The rose root capsules from Iceherbs are a purely Icelandic product, manufactured by Náttúrusmiðja in Blönduós using rose root collected in the Breiðafjörður islands. Rose root (Rhodiola rosea) is an herb that grows widely in Iceland. The root is collected from areas where few sheep graze. The plant can form large belts in such areas. Rose root is sometimes referred to as the golden root because it is golden red in colour on the inside. It is also known as the Arctic root. The rose root is dioecious, i.e. there are separate female and male plants. The female plant forms reddish flowers with thick-skinned fruit, while the male has yellow flowers with delicate stamen.

Studies of rose root have shown that it contains several chemical compounds, including rosin, rhodioloside, rosarin, salidroside and tyrosol. These compounds are known to affect mental balance and generally act as a pick-me-up and stimulant, much like ginseng, tea and coffee. Thus, it combats fatigue, depression, lack of concentration and lack of energy. It also appears to affect the body’s hormone system and to have beneficial aphrodisiac effects. The use of rose root appears to have no side effects.

Iceherbs (Íslensk fjallagrös hf.) manufactures medicinal goods from Iceland moss and other natural Icelandic resources under the trademark Natura Islandica. The Natura Islandica trademark refers to the value inherent in the purity of Iceland’s natural environment.

Ingredients

The rose root capsules from Iceherbs contain 85% Icelandic rose root as well as 15% ground Iceland moss, which aids digestion and the absorption of anti-oxidants from the digestive tract.
